I have been playing with Wordpress today and have done what I can to create a page there.

My big question is, I do not like the standard templates provided by Wordpress. I would like to use the many random skins available online, but it appears that I must pay for the premium CSS components. In fact, just in order to change the colors on their standard templates, it appears that I must pay. It seems nuts. Tell me it is not true.
For those Wordpress fans, please let me know your favorite things on Wordpress v. Blogger.
Right now, my comfort level is with Blogger, but I am a fickle sort.

Wish I could help. Hope someone else comes along to offer advice. Oh hey Robinella left blogger went to WP and is now back with blogger. You could email her and ask any questions.
AFF went from blogger to WP to her own website...I'm sure she could give you her opinions too.
K told me to come by & share my thoughts. And, watch out, my mind wanders around & this could bounce back & forth. I moved from Blogger to WP in January. Last week I officially moved to a WP self-hosted site - so even tho I own my domain, I'm still with WP. I'm not very tech savvy (at all) and WP is much more computer geek intensive. Hands down, it requires skills, which I made my hubby learn for me. I enjoyed my stint with blogger. It just seemed like a natural progression to upgrade to WP. WP has many more gadgets. That's the best thing about it. Blogger is more user friendly. WP gives you the ability to respond to all of your commenters via their emails - and this was actually the primary reason for my switch. I hated not being able to at least email back a "thanks for commenting." I wanted to keep my site as it was on Blogger and just transfer it over to WP. This required Nap Warden's skills (which cost a little bit) and then cost $20 via WP. So, to answer your question: yes, you will have to pay to get a creative template. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me: anglophilefootballfanatic@gmail.com
Hello. Kayta sent me too. She's a pesky little thing.
Go read this post on my blog for my full skinny on this debate.

I didn't realize it then, but what AFF talks about with regard to emailing folks is so true. I had to start having all my comments come to my blog email just so I could see new comments and email back.
Other than freedom to tweak the template, I am not impressed with Blogger. I am starting to debate getting my own domain, except as much as I like my blog, I could also really give a fuck and am not sure I want to pay for anything.
